Preventive examinations
The expert reports from the dysplasia commissions in Bern and Zurich include developmental disorders and malformations in small animals that can be diagnosed using medical imaging methods (radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI). All of these diseases have hereditary components and thus play an important role in selecting animals that are not or minimally predisposed for breeding.
The legal bases are recorded in the breeding regulations of the breed clubs. The breeding regulations are sometimes modified WITHOUT consulting the dysplasia commissions. Therefore, the dysplasia commissions are unable to reliably provide information about the breed club regulations. We ask veterinary practices and clinics to request this information from pet owners or refer them to the breed clubs.
